Rogues Open Day: Squiggles
Squiggles, what a great name for a racehorse. Trained by James Owen at Newmarket and ridden by Callum Pritchard. Squiggles, sporting the red and white colours of Rogues Gallery Racing was running at Huntingdon over three miles and a furlong on our Open Day weekend on the 24th November.
It was her third run under National Hunt rules and despite the race only having three runners it was exciting right to the finish. There was a great turnout of Rogues at Huntingdon to shout her home and a lot of punters at the Cambridgeshire course had a bet on her. Not just because of her name but because they thought she had a real chance.
Squiggles did run well but despite claiming a bit of weight was unable to get past the well-bred and expensive odds-on favourite on the day, only being one and a quarter lengths behind. She was still running on at the finish and was impressive in all her actions. Both trainer and jockey had nothing but praise for her run.
The Rogues in the bar later enjoyed the champagne and everyone is looking forward to seeing her on a racecourse again soon.
